Free agent defensive tackle John Thornton would not like to be part of the Lions

As the Lions is doing overhaul to their roster during the offseason, free agent defensive tackle John Thornton just refused to be part of it.

Thornton said Sunday that he refused the offer to join the team and Jim Schwartz , his former defensive coordinator in Tennessee. Thornton, 32, was a starter in Cincinnati the last six seasons but was let go as the Bengals signed Tank Johnson . Now he's unsure if he'll play anywhere this fall.

"I would probably have to gain weight," Thornton told Sirius NFL Radio. "That was the situation with Detroit (and) Coach Schwartz, who coached me in Tennessee.

"I went up there and we kind of agreed to a deal and a few days later I sort of backed out of it for various reasons. I would have had to gain about 20 pounds actually. He wanted me to be pretty big in the middle, so I would just have to start eating a lot. I'm in pretty good shape." He also does not plan to put on texans jersey.

Thornton said that he would not be able to come back right now and play 60 plays, but he don't think anybody can right now.
